About The Position
This is a 50% School Counsellor position focused on Integrated ELA and Math. During this round of postings, permanent contract teachers, second-year probationary teachers, teachers with recall status, and external applicants may apply for this position. Permanent contract teachers, second-year probationary teachers, and teachers with recall status must apply using their internal profile in order for their seniority to be recognized. Teachers who are hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in a New Teacher Training if they have not already done so. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and approximately 375 children attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the SRCE's jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition
- Excellent classroom and student management skills
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies
- Knowledge of Grades P-6 Integrated Curriculum
- Reading recovery training and experience
- Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor
- Prior to hire, all employees must provide current (within 6 mos.), and clear Child Abuse Registry & Criminal Record-Vulnerable Sector check
