Integrated Control Systems Engineer Intern (Mechanical Control Units)
About The Position
This internship role is within the Integrated Controls Systems (ICS) capability group, which is part of Rolls-Royce Engineering, Technology and Safety. The ICS group comprises diverse engineering disciplines including Software, Systems, Electronics, Electrical Power, Mechanical, and Product Security. The team collaborates on design, integration, testing, service support, and supply chain management to meet customer needs. As an intern, you will be based in the ICS group and will work on a mechanical hardware project supporting solutions for core engine subsystems such as fuel, oil, and air regulation. This internship offers hands-on experience across the product development lifecycle, including capturing and validating customer requirements, collaborating with suppliers on component design, executing hardware verification testing, and supporting in-service engine technical inquiries and documentation.
Requirements
- Working towards an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, and/or related degree.
- Eager to collaborate across cross-functional teams, ask insightful questions, and break down problem statements into clear, actionable solutions.
- Proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage tasks from concept to completion.
- Convey information clearly through strong written and verbal skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders from individual contributors to leadership.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to commute to various local and regional (West Lafayette) worksites as needed.
Responsibilities
