About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine seeks an Integrated Clinical Psychologist to provide evidence-based behavioral health services within outpatient internal medicine clinics while also contributing to the academic mission of the Department and College of Medicine. This faculty position combines direct patient care with teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and service. The psychologist will work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to improve patient outcomes through integrated behavioral health services, while educating medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will maintain an active clinical practice, participate in educational programs, develop scholarly activities, and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives consistent with the expectations of a clinical-track Assistant Professor appointment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship
  • Completion of Post-Doctoral Fellowship
  • Licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Tennessee (at time of hire)
  • Knowledge of integrated behavioral healthcare and collaborative care models.
  • Expertise in evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention.
  • Ability to manage a diverse patient population with complex medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong clinical documentation and electronic health record proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrated experience providing evidence-based psychological interventions with adult populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based behavioral health interventions for adult patients within integrated Internal Medicine clinics.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver integrated behavioral healthcare, including same-day consultations, treatment planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record and ensure compliance with applicable clinical standards.
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners through clinical supervision, didactic instruction, and interdisciplinary educational activities.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, quality improvement, presentations, and publications, consistent with faculty expectations.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and institutional committees, faculty meetings, and service activities that support the academic mission of the Department.
  • Maintain professional licensure, pursue continuing professional development, and contribute to the advancement of integrated behavioral health programs within the Department.
