About The Position

Spring Grove Recovery is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Intake Patient Engagement Specialist to join their team. This role is crucial as the specialist will be one of the first points of contact for patients arriving for treatment, playing an essential part in making individuals feel welcomed, respected, and supported during their recovery journey. The ideal candidate should be organized, patient-focused, professional, and capable of remaining calm in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced residential treatment environment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, residential care, healthcare, or a related field.
  • Experience with patient admissions, intake procedures, or healthcare documentation.
  • Crisis intervention or de-escalation training.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Understanding of substance use disorders and the recovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome incoming patients and assist them throughout the admission and intake process.
  • Ensure all intake paperwork, identification, consent forms, and required documentation are completed accurately.
  • Assist the Intake Nurse with vital signs, breathalyzer testing, and drug screenings as authorized by training and facility policy.
  • Escort patients throughout the admission process and assist with transitioning them to their assigned treatment areas.
  • Inventory, document, and secure patient belongings in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming intake lobby.
  • Monitor patient safety and promptly report medical, behavioral, or security concerns.
  • Use appropriate de-escalation techniques when assisting patients experiencing emotional distress.
  • Assist patients with virtual appointments and assessments using Microsoft Teams.
  • Answer incoming calls, assist visitors, and support administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing, admissions, clinical staff, and the Patient Engagement team.
  • Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and professional boundaries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Patient Engagement Manager.
