About The Position

The Intake Director is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Assessment & Referral Department, ensuring prospective service, link recipients' to appropriate resources or care providers. This role involves ensuring in-house assessments are completed with treatment referral recommendations made and documented, using approved admission criteria to make decisions concerning the level of care for treatment using the least restrictive level appropriate. The position also ensures the plan for episode of care is initiated at admission to all levels of care, and directs admission screening and initiates the integrated assessment process. The Intake Director is responsible for ensuring that Intake procedures, hospital policy, and regulatory requirements are followed, such as obtaining administrative approval for all admissions, completing admission paperwork, and conducting on-call doctor patient interviews. Proper communication and follow-up throughout the admissions and assessment process, including pre-certification, on-call doctor notification, and notifying administration of problems or significant events, are also key responsibilities. The role involves accomplishing department objectives by selecting, orienting, training, and supervising staff, organizing and monitoring their work process and performance. This includes coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results, conducting training, and implementing/enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. The Intake Director must maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards, adhering to legal regulations, and ensuring safety problems are identified and corrective actions taken. Operations are completed by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, and implementing new procedures. Expenses are controlled by managing overtime, scheduling expenditures, and monitoring variances. Maintaining professional, technical, and regulatory knowledge is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.
  • With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers.
  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • Texas Licensed Social Worker or RN required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in an inpatient behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, telehealth, or case management, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with the continuum of care.
  • Assessment and intervention skills.
  • Knowledge of DSM4 diagnostic criteria.
  • Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification and Management of Assaultive Behavior training including restraint and seclusion policies prior to assuming patient care responsibility.

Responsibilities
