About The Position

Brentwood Hospital is seeking a dynamic Intake Counselor to join their team. This role is crucial in providing help and hope to individuals and families seeking to improve their mental health. The Intake Counselor will assess the needs of potential patients, facilitate the admission process, and maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. Brentwood Hospital is a 260-bed psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment facility with over 45 years of experience serving Louisiana, East Texas, and South Arkansas. They offer quality services to a wide range of age groups, focusing on individualized treatment in a safe and nurturing environment to help patients achieve optimal mental health and improve their quality of life.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Human Service field (e.g. Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.), or RN - preferably BSN.
Licensed Louisiana RN, LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC preferred.
1-2 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.
Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.

Responsibilities

Responds to telephone and face-to-face inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health –related services
Conducts clinical assessments; utilizes appropriate clinical forms during assessment; develops sound knowledge of applicable criteria; provides a comfortable caring approach to clients
Documentation reviews shows that forms, notes, and other applicable written information has been completed promptly and accurately
