About The Position

We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of the Intake Case Management Specialist Supervisor, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS! The main purpose of this position is to plan and direct the implementation and coordination of the delivery of intake case management services for juveniles within an assigned county or geographic region. This position also directly supervises Case Management Specialists.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing case management services to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent, victimized or exceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting.
  • Employees appointed to positions in this classification are required to become fully certified by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission within 90 days of appointment and maintain certification while employed.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Employees in this classification that are employed at DJS Youth Centers may be required to complete a Board approved medication technician training program and possess a valid Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) certification as a Medication Technician.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A thorough background check, including fingerprinting and drug testing
  • An oral interview, and Physical and psychological examinations.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a Social or Behavioral Science major (such as Criminal Justice, Sociology, Human Relations, Psychology, Child and Adolescent Studies or Social Work, or other closely related field)
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in providing direct services to children in a community or residential setting
  • At least one (1) year of experience supervising lower-level Case Management Specialists in a community or residential setting

Responsibilities

  • Planning and directing the implementation and coordination of intake case management services
  • Supervising Case Management Specialists, including assigning work and monitoring performance
  • Meeting with representatives from the State’s Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, courts, law enforcement, and public and private agencies to obtain or clarify information and coordinate services
  • Communicating with youth, families, and partners to explain procedures and expectations and address questions related to case reports and recommendations
  • Discussing staff recommendations and court presentations with relevant parties
  • Resolving concerns and complaints and negotiates alternative placements as appropriate
