About The Position

The A&R Intake Assessment Clinician is responsible for assisting in the process of responding to referrals and other requests for services and information. This role provides technical assistance to the discharge planning process, under the direction of the Director of A&R. The clinician is the first point of contact with the community, excelling at providing resources and support to callers and walk-ins, and offering general support to the case management program. Responsibilities include documenting and processing inquiry calls according to Intake policies, assessing and stabilizing patients before discharge or arranging hospital admission, notifying and assisting the on-call doctor with patient interviews, obtaining administrative approval for all admissions, and completing admission paperwork following hospital policy. A log of all necessary information must be maintained, and follow-up calls made to patients who fail to show up for appointments. The role also involves demonstrating guest relations by example and providing counseling to employees in need of training.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree (preferred) in a human relations field.
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Illinois as a mental health professional.
  • Preferably one or more years’ experience in an intake/assessment setting within a behavioral health, human services department/ clinic or hospital.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with customer service.
  • A working knowledge of a Mental Status Exam.
  • A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field.
