About The Position
Insurance Specialists play a valuable role for the company by providing accuracy in creating patient accounts and ensure patient insurance and verification is completed in a timely manner. Insurance Specialists serve as a single point of contact in obtaining authorization, identifying termed insurance policies, and obtaining referrals from insurance companies. The primary role is to serve as an advocate to ensure patients and hospitals are covered for services relating to IV infusion therapy while maintaining compliance with established standards of operation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 2-3 years of experience in insurance verification and authorization for medical benefits
- Strong communication skills
- Above average typing speed (45 50 WPM)
- Above average 10 key typing speed (8,000 KPH)
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Medical terminology
- Ability to work within time constraints
Responsibilities
- Patient intake
- Data entry
- Patient scheduling
- Patient follow-up
- QA for required referral information and pertinent medical records
- Insurance verification (online and over the phone)
- Initiating and completing authorizations, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, and referral requirements
- Obtain preauthorization
- Documentation of all insurance and verification correspondence
- Tracking pending insurance verification and authorization requests
- Reverifying patient insurance monthly as needed
