About The Position

The Insurance Specialist is responsible for various aspects of the revenue cycle, including claiming, collections, payment posting, and platform utilization. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The specialist will contribute to maximizing reimbursement, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining a positive work environment. Requirements

  • High School degree required
  • Previous healthcare insurance/billing experience
  • Good organizational skills required
  • Proficient at basic keyboarding/word processing skills
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required
  • Ability to prioritize work load with multiple priorities required
  • Attention to detail required
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions required
  • Ability to work with others across the organization to ensure accurate billing of claims required
  • Must be able to pass both a Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and Central Registry Screen

Nice To Haves

  • Basic accounting knowledge preferred
  • PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the billing process preferred
  • Ability to maintain an up to date knowledge of industry trends in healthcare legislation, regulations, and processes preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with third-party vendors and internal teams to obtain necessary information for claiming, billing, and reimbursement.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims to facilitate timely payment.
  • Process insurance correspondence, including denials, discounts, and refunds.
  • Post payments from insurance companies and other funding sources.
  • Utilize various platforms and software (e.g., MyAvatar, Waystar, Availity, WPS/GHA, KMAP, SFTP, Excel) for account management, posting, and claim processing.
  • Maintain flexibility and perform a variety of duties as department needs change.
  • Communicate accurate and relevant information to other staff members.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including attending workshops and utilizing learning platforms.
  • Participate in organizational performance improvement activities.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by treating others with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
