About The Position
This is a claim adjusting position. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are to investigate, evaluate and resolve liability claims which are filed against the state and its employees.
Requirements
- Six (6) months of experience in the insurance field or adjusting liability claims.
- Ability to investigate liability insurance claims.
- Knowledge of good investigative techniques and knowledge of case law.
- Ability to review and process provider bills.
- Ability to use a 10-key adding machine.
- Ability to enter, retrieve and maintain data in a computer system.
- Ability to review and properly categorize insurance claims.
- Knowledge of the principles of risk management and insurance.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions about insurance claims.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with any risk management information system and/or any software programs designed to assist in the adjusting of property and liability claims.
- Six (6) months of experience with answering phone calls and providing information to callers.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
