About The Position

HTM Insurance is seeking an experienced and professional Inspector – Level 2 to join our Loss Prevention team. This role is responsible for conducting detailed inspections for residential, farm, and commercial properties, identifying risk exposures, and recommending improvements to help prevent future claims. The Inspector also acts as a key representative of HTM with policyholders, brokers, and industry partners. This position will be required to work in the central/Eastern region of Ontario.

Requirements

  • College diploma in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an insurance inspector in property, home, or farm insurance
  • Strong knowledge of building construction
  • Strong knowledge of fire prevention
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of building codes
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment practices
  • WETT Certification
  • Strong computer and reporting skills
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and observational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines
  • Professional relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation abilities

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections for new and existing business within required timelines
  • Perform detailed interior and exterior inspections of dwellings, outbuildings, farms, and commercial properties
  • Assess roofing, electrical systems, plumbing, heating systems, and overall property condition
  • Identify safety concerns and provide recommendations to reduce risk exposure
  • Complete pre-inspections, rush inspections, and complex inspections across all lines of business
  • Document findings using photographs, tablets, drones, and company technology
  • Communicate major concerns to Underwriting and recommend action where appropriate
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and building valuations
  • Document deficiencies and required corrective actions
  • Complete MIRA reports and submit documentation to appropriate departments
  • Identify high-risk policyholders and provide recommendations regarding coverage eligibility
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and policyholders
  • Conduct regular broker visits and attend industry functions as required
  • Participate in Loss Prevention League meetings and industry networking opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and share industry best practices
