About The Position

The Corporate Risk Management Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive oversight, administration, and tracking of Cogir Senior Living's enterprise insurance portfolio across all operating communities and corporate functions. This role serves as the internal subject matter expert on corporate insurance programs, ensuring that all policies are current, appropriately scoped, and aligned with the organization's risk profile. The Specialist works cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Human Resources to coordinate coverage, manage renewals, support claims activity, and liaise with external brokers and carriers under the direction of senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience in corporate risk management, insurance administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance lines including liability, workers' compensation, and property/casualty.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple policy lines, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with insurance management platforms or tracking tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to interpret policy language and coverage terms accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in senior living, residential care, or a multi-site service industry environment.
  • Familiarity with employment practices liability and D&O coverage in a multi-state or cross-border context.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation or progress toward a risk/insurance credential is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with insurance brokers or in a brokerage environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a centralized, up-to-date inventory of all corporate insurance policies including coverage limits, effective dates, renewal schedules, named insureds, and certificate holders.
  • Develop and manage a renewal calendar to ensure no lapses in coverage across all policy lines.
  • Review policy documents for accuracy and flag discrepancies or gaps for leadership review.
  • Coordinate the issuance and distribution of certificates of insurance (COIs) to third parties, vendors, and community partners as needed.
  • Serve as an internal point of contact for external brokers and insurance carriers, under the oversight of a senior manager.
  • Prepare and compile renewal submissions, exposure schedules, and supporting documentation for underwriters.
  • Participate in broker meetings, coverage reviews, and renewal negotiations; summarize outcomes and escalate decisions as appropriate.
  • Maintain organized records of all broker communications, binders, endorsements, and policy amendments.
  • Track open and closed claims across all lines of coverage; maintain a claims log with status updates, reserve information, and resolution details.
  • Coordinate intake and documentation for new claims, working with the appropriate internal stakeholder (HR, Legal, Operations) to compile required materials.
  • Monitor claim trends and provide periodic reporting to leadership to support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review vendor, lease, and service agreements for insurance requirements; confirm Cogir's policies satisfy contractual obligations and flag deficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements related to insurance across operating jurisdictions (including California, Washington, Arizona, and Quebec).
  • Assist in preparing materials for audits, board reporting, or due diligence processes involving the insurance program.
  • Partner with HR/Colleague Experience on EPLI and workers' compensation matters, including integration with employee relations tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with Finance on premium allocations, accruals, and budget forecasting for insurance expenditures.
  • Support Operations with community-level insurance questions, new community onboarding insurance requirements, and acquisition due diligence.
