About The Position

Farmers is seeking an attorney with workers' compensation experience to join their California Workers' Compensation team. This is a virtual position open to candidates located anywhere in California who can make occasional in-person WCAB appearances as required. The role involves representing clients in all areas of workers' compensation defense practice, handling cases primarily of low complexity and exposure, and managing all phases of cases from intake to resolution. Requirements

  • Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all areas of workers' compensation defense practice, handling cases of low complexity and exposure.
  • Manage all phases of cases from intake to resolution.
  • Litigate low complexity and exposure cases and perform duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
  • Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
  • Proactively inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges.
  • Consult with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files.
  • Perform other tasks or duties to ensure efficient case management.
  • May handle second chair trials and handle trials in cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure.
  • May provide support to senior attorneys in cases of greater complexity and/or exposure.
  • May receive developmental assignments of matters that are of moderate complexity and/or exposure.
