About The Position

Alan is building the new standard in prevention insurance, integrating insurance, prevention, and care into a single user experience. We are a fast-growing European insurer with a unique culture, serving over 1 million members across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada, with ambitions for global leadership. The Insurance Compliance Counsel will be Alan's expert on members' insurance compliance and consumer protection regulation, defining how regulatory obligations translate into Alan's tools, processes, and products. This role involves owning the compliance posture, proactively managing exposure, interfacing with regulators, and ensuring compliance standards travel with Alan's international expansion. The role sits within the Legal Area in the Corporate Unit and involves close daily collaboration with Legal, Insurance, Operations, Sales, Care, and Product teams across all markets.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in compliance in an insurance or fintech company.
  • Solid coverage of at least two of the following: AML/CFT, insurance distribution (IDD), complaints handling, regulatory reporting.
  • Solid understanding of the French insurance regulatory framework and ability to work across EU/local requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead compliance projects cross-functionally: translate regulatory requirements into clear priorities, align internal stakeholders, and deliver without creating bottlenecks or increased friction.
  • Bilingual French/English (both required, written and spoken).

Nice To Haves

  • International exposure is a strong plus.
  • Pragmatic problem-solver: find the right answer within regulatory constraints rather than defaulting to the most conservative one.
  • Rigorous and well-organised: maintain high documentation standards, track commitments, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Business-minded: understand what matters for the company's growth and members' protection, and calibrate compliance work accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Own Alan's Insurance Compliance Posture, defining how regulatory obligations (IDD, duty of advice, product governance, AML/CFT, etc.) translate into operational processes, product design, and tooling.
  • Suggest optimal ways to meet regulatory requirements within Alan's products while improving members' experience.
  • Proactively identify compliance risks, assess their exposure, and develop mitigating action plans.
  • Lead the structuring and continuous improvement of Alan's complaints management framework across France, Belgium, and Spain.
  • Serve as the compliance function's key contributor to Alan's internal control system, documenting risks and controls and co-deploying the internal control approach.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits, assessing Alan's standing, defining remediation plans, and driving their implementation.
  • Report on compliance obligations and risk exposure to Alan's Board and governance committees.
  • Manage regulatory reporting obligations, including the ACPR Questionnaire Protection de la Clientèle (QPC).
  • Respond to regulatory inspections, coordinating internally and ensuring Alan is always audit-ready.
  • Support the AML framework: conduct second-level analysis on suspicious cases, manage relationships with regulatory bodies and financial intelligence units, approve high-risk client relationships, and maintain the AML/CFT risk assessment framework.
  • Oversee KYC Ops referents' training and upskilling.
  • Coordinate with the AMLO on annual priorities, documentation, monitoring tools, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain Alan's compliance roadmap: prioritize, track progress, update risk mapping, and re-prioritize as the regulatory environment evolves.
  • Lead compliance projects with internal stakeholders, translating regulatory requirements into concrete deliverables and timelines.
  • Contribute to pragmatic compliance positions on regulatory requirements that affect products and contracts.
  • Design and maintain mandatory regulatory training programs for Sales and Care roles.
  • Build internal compliance frameworks, guidelines, and decision-making tools.
  • Ensure Alan's compliance standards travel consistently across all Group markets, adapting Group frameworks to local regulatory requirements and deploying them locally.
