Requirements

High School Degree
Vast knowledge of commercial insurance plans, Government plans
Medical terminology
Excel and ICD9 coding
2-3 years experience in a related field

Responsibilities

Provides Insurance Verification and Authorization for all patients.
Contacts insurance companies to verify Hospice benefit coverage and level of care coverage.
Enters information into Homeworks to ensure staff have accurate patient coverage information.
Works closely with the Financial Counselor for patients requiring a Financial Assistance application or Medicaid application.
Keeps track of all ongoing authorizations for any level of care change and any expired authorizations.
Requires medical terminology, professional telephone skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to perform copying, faxing, and follow-up as needed.
