Requirements

High School Degree
Vast knowledge of commercial insurance plans, Government plans
Medical terminology
Excel and ICD9 coding
2-3 years experience in a related field

Responsibilities

Provides Insurance Verification and Authorization for all patients.
Contacts insurance companies, verifies Hospice benefit coverage, and level of care coverage.
Enters information into Homeworks in order for staff to have accurate information about patient coverage.
Works closely with the Financial Counselor for patients who require a Financial Assistance application completed or are in need of applying for Medicaid.
Keeps track of all ongoing authorizations for any level of care change and any expired authorizations.
Requires medical terminology, professional telephone skills, strong computer skills and must be able to perform copying, faxing and follow up as needed.
