About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Power BI and Insurance Analytics Developer to develop scalable dashboards and analytical solutions, conduct complex SQL-based data analysis, and translate insurance business requirements into actionable insights. The role involves creating and maintaining reporting solutions for insurance business users, validating data and reporting accuracy, and collaborating with business, analytics, and data engineering teams. The position is based in Chicago, Illinois, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, data modeling, relationships, drill-through, bookmarks, filters, and visualization best practices.
Experience building complex dashboards and executive or business reporting solutions.
Understanding of Power BI performance optimization and data model design.
Strong SQL skills, including joins, CTEs, subqueries, window functions, aggregations, and complex transformations.
Experience analyzing and reconciling data across multiple tables and data sources.
Good understanding of relational databases, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
Ability to investigate data-quality issues and independently perform root-cause analysis.
Good understanding of insurance data and business processes, preferably within Property & Casualty insurance.
Familiarity with policy, coverage, exposure, premium, claims, losses, reserves, limits, deductibles, brokers or agents, and underwriting.
Ability to understand insurance KPIs and translate business questions into analytical reports and dashboards.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to interact with business stakeholders and independently convert requirements into technical solutions.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with policy, claims, underwriting, or premium-related datasets.
Prior experience with an insurance carrier, broker, MGA, or insurance analytics organization.
Exposure to Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, or SQL Server.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for insurance business users.
Develop DAX measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and data models to meet analytical and reporting requirements.
Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, reconciliation, and analysis.
Analyze large datasets to identify business trends, data issues, and actionable insights.
Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into reporting and analytical solutions.
Perform data validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis to support accurate and consistent reporting.
Develop and maintain dimensional data models for reporting and analytics.
Collaborate with data engineering, business, and analytics teams to integrate data from multiple source systems.
Apply insurance domain knowledge to interpret business data and develop KPIs and reporting solutions.
Support report performance optimization, production issues, enhancements, and ongoing reporting needs.
