This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, and become known in their community. It's for those passionate about serving their community, who want to grow their sales, business, and networking skills to new heights, and who desire to control their own income. This opportunity is ideal for those who have wanted to start their own business but were deterred by extreme start-up costs. Shelter Insurance does not require previous background in the insurance industry; while experience is a plus, it is not a necessity. Many new agents have backgrounds in real estate, retail sales, education, and coaching. What is required is a motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and skilled capacity for effectively communicating with clients in a sales atmosphere. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses is helpful, our training programs help build the foundation necessary to launch your agency. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand or "sell" agencies. We provide the opportunity, and the only expectations are that you meet sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. If you are no longer a Shelter agent for any reason, your financial responsibilities are limited to any unsatisfied bills owed through your departure, such as advertising contracts, telephone bills, and utilities. A true business owner’s mindset is required to succeed. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there is an opportunity to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support.
