About The Position

Insulators and other craft professionals contribute expertise and precision to the quality and efficiency of its projects. The Insulator applies insulation materials and surface claddings or coatings to pipes, vessels, tanks, ductwork, and related equipment. Duties may include determining insulation requirements, fitting and shaping materials, preparing surfaces, and finishing or sealing insulated surfaces. The role involves reading blueprints and specifications, using hand tools, handling and staging materials, and following safety procedures. On-the-job training is offered. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to perform basic math.
Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and working outside.
Physically able to perform assigned tasks.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.

Responsibilities

Apply insulating materials, surface claddings, and coatings to pipes, vessels, tanks, ductwork, and associated equipment.
Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes using plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic.
Determine the amount, types, and method of insulation needed.
Fit and shape insulating materials.
Measure and cut insulation using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors.
Use tools such as pin snips, cutting shears, knives, and channel locks to install insulation.
Read blueprints and specifications to determine job specifications.
Prepare surfaces for insulation application.
Load and unload materials.
Stage materials in designated site areas.
Observe and comply with safety processes and procedures.
