About The Position

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation Technician located at Detachment 1, 413th Flight Test Squadron, at Nellis AFB, Nevada.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree. Relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • 10 Years Experience.
  • Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical components based on engineering drawings using computer numerically controlled machines, milling, drill presses and similar metal working equipment.
  • Develop and maintain reoccurring maintenance inspections for locally manufactured test equipment.
  • Prepare instrumentation system components for installation on test bed aircraft.
  • Conduct detailed engineering analysis for test data requirements of a system to be tested.
  • Install test instrumentation components in flight rated racks and consoles.
  • Install test instrumentation system components to include racks, sensors, data bus components, video cameras, and interconnect cabling on test aircraft.
  • Use computer applications to include computer-aided design and drafting to plan and document the mechanical integration of instrumentation system components and their cabling.
  • Follow mechanical and electrical schematic drawings to build and repair electronic devices and interconnecting cables.
  • Perform functional tests, analyze performance and malfunctions, remove, install, maintain, and modify the electronic, electrical, and interconnecting cables of instrumentation systems and associated components. This may include utilization of ground support equipment (AGE) to accomplish the required tasks.
  • Use various types of test equipment to include systems test sets, frequency meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble at the component and system level.
  • Prepare technical procedures and check lists to ensure proper operation of instrumentation systems.
  • Advise on availability of useful commercially available instrumentation system components.
  • Extract technical data and measurements from data recording systems for use by flight test engineers.
  • Develop procedures and train personnel on shop equipment, standard shop practices, tool control, HAZMAT, ESD, and Calibration.
