About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise in the selection, design, implementation and ongoing management of instrumentation and analytical equipment within Large Industries facilities. The incumbent is responsible for direct, hands-on implementation as well as coordination of contractor, and Air Liquide field personnel, while promoting ALC’s quality and safety objectives.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation and Controls or demonstrated ability and experience in this role.
  • Training in Foxboro, Bailey, SCADA, Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Delta-V, Wonderware.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation, Analytical equipment, control systems, PLC, DCS, telemetry, HMI’s.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual French/English is an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in Air Separation, HYCO and Cogeneration technology is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in the selection, design, implementation and ongoing management of instrumentation and analytical equipment.
  • Responsible for direct, hands-on implementation as well as coordination of contractor, and Air Liquide field personnel.
  • Promote ALC’s quality and safety objectives.
  • Provide technical assessment as part of the Non-Complex MOC process.
  • Respond to calls for trouble-shooting and general support in the field of instrumentation and analytical equipment.
  • Provide hands-on support or coordinate other specialists as the job requires.
  • Provide guidance as to the application of industry and AL best practices in the domain of instrumentation and analytical equipment.
  • Fulfill the project manager role for selected initiatives utilizing Project Management principles.
  • Assist in the development of control strategies and narratives for implementation.
  • Specify, source and select instruments, evaluate and select suppliers and consultants for production and project needs.
  • Work within his/her team as well as with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the work process.
  • Provide input for new projects as required.
  • Champion new initiatives of automation, control and design for reliability.
  • Provide internal training/mentorship to Large Industries personnel regarding instrumentation and analytical equipment with regards to best practices in terms of control philosophies, documentation, operations and maintenance.
  • Actively promote ALC safety and quality objectives.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective and preventive measures are in place to answer customer complaints.
  • Responsible for the documentation and record keeping of the site’s Safety Instrument System (SIS/EIS) in accordance with Regulatory and LI-NAM requirements.
