About The Position

To remove, repair, calibrate, adjust, modify, construct, install, service and maintain all mechanical, electrical and electronic instrumentation and controls used for engineering, production and testing purposes. Including: optical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, photographic, magnetic, electrical, electronic, sonic, strain gages and their lead wire systems, telemetry and slip ring data systems, computer related data acquisition systems, communications equipment and vibration systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able and willing to work 1st (7am–3pm), 2nd (3pm–11pm), and 3rd (11pm–7am) shifts. Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to realignment.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions from supervision.
  • Calibrates instrumentation equipment and provide necessary written calibration data.
  • Troubleshoots faulty equipment and performs necessary repairs by referring to complex wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and books or manuals with minimum supervision.
  • Performs necessary mechanical assembly and disassembly of any or all associated components of any instrument.
  • Works with schematic drawings, prepares electronic and associated assemblies for instrumentation.
  • Performs soldering, arc and spot welding and brazing as required.
  • Performs routine maintenance on electronic and associated equipment including cleaning, lubricating, calibration and parts replacement.
  • Helps maintain departmental files of wiring diagrams, instrumentation manuals, calibration records, charts, graphs and keeps maintenance records up to date, including instrument work order forms.
  • Analyzes and diagnoses circuitry troubles and repairs, adjust, modifies and services all types of instrumentation devices including control and communication systems.
  • Calibrates temperature, pressure and voltage traceable to the National Bureau of Standards.
  • Designs and constructs experimental circuits, solid state and tube type.
  • Calculates voltages, currents and resistances using Ohms Law.
  • Repairs furnace and oven temperature controls throughout the plant.
  • Under test conditions, operates related equipment to perform a complete functional check of all controls to determine operation and defects.
  • Fabricates parts, instruments, and circuits as required using machines and small hand tools.
  • Repairs and calibrates boiler controls in power houses.
  • Operates Cushman for transporting test equipment
  • Reports defective material and new spare parts requirements to supervision.
  • Reports identifying data and time spent on jobs as required.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in working area and protects equipment used for analytical work at all times.
  • Observes all safety regulations.
  • Must complete ICS correspondence course as required.
  • Utilize appropriate material handling equipment (i.e. fork truck, crane, etc.) as required.
  • Utilizes man-lifts as required.
