This role is responsible for performing all aspects of electrical and instrumentation engineering designs for small and large assignments, utilizing theoretical knowledge and practical design methods under general supervision. The work involves familiarity with department standards, project scope, specifications, and design criteria. The engineer will recognize and communicate scope and design changes, provide on-site assistance during startup, and produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs. Responsibilities include producing detailed design calculations and sketches, ensuring efficient use of construction materials, and focusing on ease of construction and client satisfaction. The role also involves checking calculations performed by other engineers, assisting the drafting group, consulting with other disciplines, advising senior engineers on design or scope changes, and assisting in developing purchase inquiry packages. Reviewing vendor and discipline drawings, developing construction specifications, and reviewing fabrication drawings are also key duties. Fieldwork for data gathering, tie-in checks, and construction support is required, along with providing technical guidance to less experienced personnel. The position requires knowledge of discipline-specific methods, practices, and techniques for process and manufacturing projects, applying advanced engineering techniques to complex designs, and producing various installation details and plans. Developing conceptual layouts, cost studies, and small work-sharing packages are also part of the role.
