About The Position

The Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for following standard engineering operating procedures in the planning, implementation and repair of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems. This position requires natural intellectual curiosity and strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills for industrial electrical equipment systems.

Requirements

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree in an electrical, instrumentation, or computer related field or equivalent professional experience required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical design required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in instrumentation design required.
  • Exceptional electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Familiar with industrial electrical equipment and design.
  • Familiar with instrument loop sheets, LAN switches & video security systems.
  • Capable of maintaining plant power distribution book and DCS I/O registry.
  • General industrial electrical skills: motors, motor starter, instrument calibration, smart transmitter (HART), DCS & general electrical construction.
  • General knowledge of cGMP.
  • Computer knowledge is required including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adhere to plant safety requirements and plant policies. Promote a positive safety culture, leading by example.
  • Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements as applicable.
  • Ensure all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and cGMP regulations are followed.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where chemical odors may exist at permissible threshold limits of exposure.
  • Must be able to evacuate the plant, reporting to the appropriate assigned muster point, in the event of an emergency or drill.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to use all available or assigned personal protective equipment and tools.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial experience preferred.
  • Industrial electrical design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, optimize, and adapt electronic control systems and instruments.
  • Prepare electrical designs, cost estimates, specifications, and equipment ordering on engineering projects.
  • Provide technical services in the form of MOCs or project plans to all departments in response to any production-related problems or needs.
  • Development of electrical engineering standards and codes and maintain electrical records.
  • Design and procurement of process-related equipment and instrumentation.
  • Assist with Process Safety Management program support.
  • Write change controls for electrical changes as applicable.
  • Coordinate activities with the project leader and the project team.
  • Support site automation and connectivity efforts driven through the Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Model, test, and measure output and data to analyze performance or quality issues.
