About The Position

Taurus Power and Controls - a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC Company, is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service to our company, clients, and employees. Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of six divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (TPC), Taurus Power Services (TPS) Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States. Since 1985, Taurus has been designing control systems, automating tasks, and fabricating control panels for industrial, municipal, and commercial customers-on time and on budget. Taurus is a NETA Accredited Company that offers full-service, third party, independent testing for all electrically powered systems and equipment. Being a 24/7 field service company remains at the core of what we do. We have expertise in a wide array of systems and industries, whether it’s servicing projects we developed, or systems built by others. The Controls & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for acceptance and maintenance testing of power distribution equipment and operation of the test equipment needed to perform the job.

Requirements

  • Previous employment involving troubleshooting of industrial devices
  • AAS Degree in Instrumentation, mechatronics, or industrial electronics
  • Understanding hazards around electrical circuits
  • Customer relation and communication skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Self-starter mentality
  • 2-5 years' experience in similar field
  • Familiarity and experience working on VFD's
  • Familiarity and experience working on PLC's
  • Familiarity and experience working on DC Drives
  • Familiarity and experience working on Instrumentation (Flow sensors/meters, Level sensors/meters, etc.)
  • Familiarity and experience working on UPS's, battery systems, lighting inverters
  • Familiarity and experience working on Industrial Control Panels
  • Reliable transportation to travel to and from office or a customer's site.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform acceptance and maintenance testing of power distribution equipment and operation of the test equipment needed to perform the job.
  • Perform Start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFD's, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLC's and other industrial control equipment.
  • Identify problems as they arise and troubleshoot failure in the above-mentioned items.
  • Work independently when required.
  • Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures.
  • Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures.
  • Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.
  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, 1/0 Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation.
  • Maintain red line, drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.
  • Communicate red line changes to Engineer or Team Leader for revision prior to completion.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers and the Project Manager.
  • Meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
