About The Position

The Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical Engineer (ICAEE) is a mid-level engineering role responsible for the overall management and execution of the Dedicated Controls Engineer program, including coordination of Mitsubishi Power resources required to fulfill contract requirements. This role supports gas and steam turbine controls activities and is expected to perform all ICAEE responsibilities in addition to Turbine Controls Engineer Level II duties. The position serves as a key technical and coordination resource to ensure successful implementation of ICAEE contractual obligations. This role is primarily based at customer sites in Orange, Texas and Willis, Texas, with the requirement that the employee reside within 100 miles of either location. Additional support may be required at other nearby facilities, as business needs arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year institution with 2+ years of relevant experience, or 4+ years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of contract requirements, including full compliance with ICAEE responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform complex troubleshooting of Mitsubishi Power control systems.
  • Ability to supervise subcontractor work related to Mitsubishi Power instrumentation and system improvement activities.
  • Proficiency in connecting and supporting temporary monitoring equipment, including CABS, CASS, and CPFM systems.
  • Primary work location based at customer sites in Orange, Texas and Willis, Texas, with the requirement that the employee reside within 100 miles of either location. Additional support may be required at other nearby facilities, as business needs arise.
  • Willingness to travel overnight (~10%) for training, conferences, or other business needs, by land and/or air.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate independently in customer‑facing environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Netmation and/or Ovation control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Provide start‑up, commissioning, operational, and troubleshooting support for equipment failures, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit accurate technical reports detailing equipment conditions, required actions, and achieved results.
  • Travel to customer plant sites to plan outage requirements, provide technical direction, and engage with customers on contractual and technical matters.
  • Support LTSA program execution by tracking unit and repair part history, including operating hours, starts, remaining life, and repair status, in collaboration with the LTSA Program Manager.
  • Serve as the primary technical focal point for issue resolution, tracking and managing technical, ancillary system, and warranty issues within the Netmation control system.
  • Provide project administration support, including documentation, tracking, and reporting of warranty‑related issues.
  • Perform calibration of field devices as required to support operational and commissioning activities.
