About The Position

This is a unique opportunity for an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join Mipac at the early stage of its US growth and play a key role in shaping local and global project delivery. In this role, you will work across the full Instrumentation & Controls lifecycle; from front‑end engineering and detailed design through to commissioning and site execution, on technically complex projects for mining, mineral processing, and heavy industrial clients. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers across Mipac’s global offices and gain exposure to large‑scale projects delivered internationally. Depending on project needs, the role may include travel to site locations in North America and internationally, including regions such as Africa, South America, and Canada. This position is well suited to an I&C engineer who enjoys hands‑on technical work, problem‑solving in real operating environments, and being actively involved in project delivery from concept through to commissioning.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a project‑based engineering environment, such as an EPC, system integrator, or owner‑operator supporting capital or brownfield projects.
  • Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems, including I/O configuration.
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI development, such as FactoryTalk Site Edition, Delta V Live and/or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of instrumentation fundamentals, including common field instruments (pressure, flow, level, temperature, analyzers) and industrial signal types (e.g. 4–20 mA, digital, HART).
  • Experience generating and working with I&C documentation, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, functional descriptions, alarm registers, and commissioning plans.
  • Exposure to site‑based work and commissioning, with the ability to troubleshoot issues in live or construction environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by project schedules.
  • Full working rights in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or similar process‑based environments.
  • Familiarity with multiple PLC/DCS platforms (e.g. Rockwell, DeltaV and/or Siemens).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for mining, mineral processing, and heavy industrial projects.
  • Develop and interpret P&IDs, control philosophies, and functional descriptions to support integrated I&C solutions.
  • Support the preparation of instrumentation and controls deliverables, including: I/O lists and signal schedules, Instrument datasheets and specifications, Loop diagrams and wiring details, Functional descriptions and control narratives, Alarm registers and cause & effect matrices, FAT, SAT, and commissioning documentation.
  • Configure and support PLC and SCADA systems, including I/O configuration and system testing.
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, and on‑site commissioning activities, including loop checks, point‑to‑point testing, troubleshooting, and system validation.
  • Work closely with process, electrical, and mechanical engineers to ensure effective integration of field instrumentation, electrical systems, and control platforms.
  • Support client engagement and internal technical reviews to ensure solutions meet project, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Apply company, client, and industry standards while building strong engineering judgement through hands‑on project experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries with an annual bonus payment, including a site remuneration policy
  • An opportunity to work on interesting and diverse projects nationally and internationally
  • Continuous learning and professional development opportunities, including free access to LinkedIn Learning
  • Support to gain further accreditation and certifications through our Study Support policy
