About The Position

Turner Industries Group is looking for an Instrument Technician for a position in the Bishop, TX area. The Instrument Technician conducts calibration of instrumentation both electronic and pneumatic, field and control room, and installation of instrument loops. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman. Assigned duties are according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Technology OR High school education/ equivalent and 5 years or more of relevant experience (ex: Journeyman I&E Mechanic)
  • Knowledge of control systems
  • Knowledge of various Safety Shutdown Systems
  • 5 years of experience as a journeyman I&E Mechanic
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations
  • Previous experience in a leadership position
  • Experience with safe work permits
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Previous emergency response experience
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy

Responsibilities

  • Conduct calibration of instrumentation both electronic and pneumatic, field and control room.
  • Installation of instrument loops.
  • Receives, inventories and catalogs instruments for calibration according to construction schedule.
  • Sets up calibration and loop files.
  • Checks on installation of instrument loops.
  • Coordinates and runs (or assists) in loop checks, to include checkout with computer as required.
  • Maintains installation and completion records.
  • Keeps loop drawings.
  • Installs air tubing and control tubing runs.
  • Works start up following start up procedures.
  • Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
  • Tests accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system.
  • Removes defective instruments from system and decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments and replaces defective parts.
  • Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
