Instrument Technician
About The Position
The Instrument Technician is responsible for adhering to safety standards, identifying and responding to equipment malfunctions and alarms, and performing efficacy and quality testing for all processes and equipment. This role involves identifying manual and mechanical cleaning procedures according to manufacturer instructions for use (IFU) for a wide range of instrumentation, including general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro, cardiovascular, power, and instrumentation. The technician will also perform flexible scope processing utilizing High Level Disinfection (HLD), determine, prepare, and use supplies for the assembly process, and identify, inspect, and assemble general and specialty instruments, checking for cleanliness and functionality using count sheets. Packaging and labeling instrumentation according to standards, and safely determining sterilization equipment functionality, operation, monitoring, and maintenance with verification and documentation of the sterilization process are key duties. The role includes performing high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, liquid chemical) sterilization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to safety standards.
- Identifies, responds & reports malfunctions and/or alarms.
- Performs efficacy and quality testing for all processes and equipment.
- Identifies manual and/or mechanical cleaning according to the manufacturer's IFU for all general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro, cardiovascular, power, instrumentation.
- Performs flexible scope processing utilizing High Level Disinfection (HLD).
- Determines, prepares, and uses supplies required in the assembly process.
- Identifies, inspects, assembles general & specialty instruments checking for cleanliness & functionality utilizing count sheets.
- Packages and labels instrumentation following standards.
- Safely determines sterilization equipment functionality, operation, monitoring, and maintenance with verification and documentation of sterilization process.
- Performs high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, liquid chemical) sterilization.
