About The Position

The Instrument Technician will work primarily in the field on control, topographic surveys, and pipeline surveys as a Rod Person/Instrument Tech of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite. This role involves cutting and removing brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight, performing mathematical calculations and field checking of field data, and reading and understanding plans and specifications. The technician will also be responsible for knowing basic sources of measurement errors, digging ground using hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments, holding and plumbing rods for elevations and distances, and driving stakes to set grades on construction projects. Providing quality customer service and demonstrating safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1-year total survey field experience is highly preferred.
• Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills.
• Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads.
• Relocation is required.
• Must be able to work in inclement weather.
• Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have the ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screening.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities
