About The Position

Under limited direction, is responsible for installation, commission, calibrating, preparing for startup, troubleshooting and documentation of instrumentation, data communication, and electrical equipment as required to provide fully functional instrument and control systems.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience as an Instrument Technician on industrial construction projects.
  • Awareness of HSE policies to ensure a safe working environment and ensures compliance with all accompany policies.
  • Manual and finger dexterity

  • Depth perception
  • Ability to see things clearly that are beyond arm’s reach (far visual acuity)
  • Ability to see small detail
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work at heights above 20 feet. (Aerial lifts)
  • Ability to climb 30-foot ladders without resting
  • Ability to maintain balance on catwalks and narrow workspaces
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in awkward positions.
  • Ability to reach above head while sitting or standing
  • Ability to reach below knees while standing
  • Ability to stoop or kneel
  • Computer Literate
  • Ability to work 50 or more hours each week

Responsibilities

  • Determines methods and materials needed to accomplish assigned commissioning tasks.
  • Performs lock-out and tag-out procedures to secure switch gear and deactivate equipment and checks local switch point to ensure proper lock-out procedures are used.
  • Properly use test equipment to accurately determine if an instrument of piece of equipment is functioning properly and is ready to be turned over to the client.
  • Determine the proper way to gain access to and remove defective parts or components.
  • Troubleshoots, inspects, and maintains equipment.
  • Work around operating equipment, including coordinating with client representatives to properly Isolate equipment when work is to be done.
  • Calibrates equipment, tunes and adjusts equipment to meet established tolerances.
  • Calibrates, tunes and balances control loops and hardware routinely to ensure accuracy of operation for equipment such as recorders, flow meters, and controllers.
  • Completes paperwork documenting commissioning and startup activities.
  • Redline and maintain documentation such as electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Installs new and used equipment such as controllers, flow meters, pressure transmitters, analytical instrumentation controls, recorders, alarm panels, PLC’s, modems, and display panels, including all instrument piping, automatic transfer switch gears, ultrasonic transmitters.
  • Organize, conduct and represent the company at project coordination meetings at regular agreed upon intervals.
