About The Position

The Instrument Technician I must have the knowledge and ability to manage electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. This role involves interpreting and applying information from various technical documents, safely using tools and equipment, and demonstrating a strong understanding of mechanical and process systems. The technician will be responsible for designing and constructing complex sample systems, operating test equipment, and ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and standards.

Requirements

High School Graduate or G.E.D.
At least four (4) years of training or experience as an Analyzer Technician I or equivalent.
Skills in conduit, tubing, and piping installation.
Ability to mount stands and install instruments.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
TWIC required.
Valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.

Responsibilities

Manage electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
Interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, ISO’s, or other drawings.
Recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application.
Identify, recognize, and demonstrate safe usage of power tools appropriate for the job.
Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.
Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
Demonstrate understanding of unit’s stability as it pertains to the relationship between the instruments, process and analyzer.
Demonstrate basic understanding of mechanical and process systems.
Demonstrate ability to check flows, pressures, and temperatures of the sample system.
Demonstrate ability to safely monitor a repair sample system.
Operate on various types of test equipment available on sites.
Perform instrument reapplications.
Design and construct complex sample systems including wiring, conduit, etc.
Adhere to all codes, standards, application manuals, and publications.
Coordinate work with other technicians.
