The Instrument Technician I inspects, tests, services, repairs, calibrates, and installs indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components in a power station. The role involves locating the cause of defective instrument performance, reporting findings to a supervisor, and replacing component parts as required. The technician will use portable pressure gauges, manometers, and other similar test equipment, perform preventive maintenance, test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required. Additionally, the technician will perform tuning tasks on single loop controls and maintain and perform necessary changes to drawings related to instrumentation. Specific business unit duties may include performing maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, testing, calibration, and repair of instrumentation and control systems within offshore wind farms. This involves maintaining and optimizing the operation of systems of the wind turbines (both on and offshore substations) such as sensors, transmitters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in operations. The technician will apply working knowledge of the operations and maintenance of instrumentation systems. In addition to technical tasks, the technician plays an active role in ensuring compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards, such as NERC, and contributes to daily reporting through operations logbooks and ensures all work adheres to industry standards. This position demands a proactive and safety-conscious approach to working in a challenging and dynamic offshore environment, ensuring the reliability and safety of critical wind generation systems while adhering to industry standards and best practices. Understanding of the basic electric grid, including transmission and substation operations, as well as knowledge of NERC compliance, including evidence collection and documentation, is essential for maintaining the integrity and regulatory compliance of offshore wind operations. The selected candidate will be required to work at heights.
