About The Position

The Instrument Technician Lead Certified is responsible for the care, cleaning, handling, and reprocessing of instruments and equipment. This role decontaminates instruments and equipment according to hospital and regulatory guidelines. It involves assembling and wrapping trays for sterilization, operating sterilizers, and performing quality assurance monitoring using knowledge of instrumentation, blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization. The role also documents activities according to policy and procedures. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating and assembling surgery case carts, accurately completing inventory lists for trays and surgeon preference cards, reviewing instrument and inventory supplies, restocking, proactively identifying supply/instrumentation needs, gathering supplies for specific cases, and assisting with Operating Room sterilization processes. The Instrument Technician Lead Certified serves as the point person on each shift, prioritizing tasks and coordinating the assembly of surgery case carts. This role performs complex tasks, trains new employees as an educator, completes expert-level trays, and assists in process changes and improvement initiatives within the department. Scheduling and shift coverage may also be handled by this role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of instrumentation.
