About The Position

The Instrument Tech I performs duties related to delivering sterilized surgical instruments and disinfecting medical devices for use in patient care areas. The role requires competencies in decontamination, preparation and packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution, and supports patient care areas by promoting high-quality reprocessing. The position also assembles case carts and supplies for Perioperative Services, restocks and issues specialty and crash carts, and issues requisitioned medical devices throughout EAMC.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Become certified as a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, preferably through CBSPD, Inc., within 24 months of Central Sterile employment. After 12 months of employment, the employee will be given at least four consecutive opportunities to pass the examination. Certification is a condition of continued employment. IAHCSMM/HSPA certification is also acceptable.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• CSPDT or CRCST certification.

Responsibilities
