About The Position

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontaminating, preparing, and sterilizing Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment; managing inventory and restocking supplies; entering data into the computer; and batching patient charge cards. The role requires knowledge of department locations throughout the facility and the ability to access all departments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and detailed knowledge of patient supplies and equipment are also required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, for new hires effective April 2014.
• At least two years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician is required at designated facilities.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate is required at designated facilities.
• Central Supply Certified certification is required at designated facilities.
• At designated facilities, Central Supply Certified certification must be obtained within two years of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting.
• Central Supply Certified certification.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
