About The Position

The Central Sterilization Technician cleans, assembles, and sterilizes equipment, supplies, and instruments, and helps maintain the supplies inventory. The position is based in a surgery center setting with exposure to conditions common to a clinical environment.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Hold and maintain CST certification and follow AAMI guidelines.
• Ability to adapt to repetitive, short-cycle operations.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Some mechanical ability to operate large equipment and disassemble and assemble instruments.
• Some familiarity with surgical instrumentation.
• Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

• One year of previous sterilization experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and decontaminate patient-use items by taking apart, rinsing, and soaking instruments and using washing and sterilization equipment.
• Assemble, package, and/or terminally sterilize patient-use items.
• Maintain required records, including biological testing and unit checks.
• Perform required environmental and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Follow the Surgery Center’s infection-control and safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in committees as assigned.
• Perform other duties as needs arise.
• Help maintain the supplies inventory.
