About The Position

The Instrument Tech I: Sterile Processing (SPD) is responsible for the care, cleaning, handling, and reprocessing of instruments and equipment. This role requires knowledge of instrumentation, blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization. The technician will also be responsible for taking inventory, ordering, and stocking supplies within the department. This position contributes to the indirect nursing care of patients across all age groups (neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) by ensuring instruments and equipment are properly prepared. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and assembling surgery case carts, which includes instrument and inventory management, restocking, proactively identifying supply/instrumentation needs, gathering supplies for specific cases, and assisting with Operating Room sterilization processes. A strong understanding of supplies, instrumentation, disinfection techniques, and sterilization methods is essential.
