PIH Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instrument Room Technician to join our team at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital (PHGSH). In this critical role, you will work independently to perform all tasks related to the reprocessing and sterilization of surgical instruments, including maintenance, decontamination, prepping, sterilization, and proper handling and storage. This position plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety and supporting surgical operations across our healthcare network. As an Instrument Room Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of sterility and cleanliness for surgical instruments and equipment. Your attention to detail and thorough understanding of sterilization protocols will directly impact patient outcomes and the efficiency of surgical procedures. You will work closely with surgical teams to ensure all necessary instruments are properly processed, sterilized, and available when needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of sterile processing procedures and surgical instruments, with the ability to identify, handle, and process various specialized instruments according to manufacturer guidelines and hospital protocols. You will need to maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, and quality control measures. This is a full-time, regular position at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital, part of PIH Health's nonprofit regional healthcare network that serves approximately 3 million residents in the Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Gabriel Valley region. You will operate various sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors. Additionally, you will inspect instruments for functionality, cleanliness, and damage before and after processing. The position requires physical stamina as you will be standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying instrument trays, and performing repetitive motions. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with attention to strict timelines and procedures. The ability to communicate effectively with surgical staff and other departments is essential for coordinating instrument needs and addressing any concerns promptly.
