About The Position

PIH Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Instrument Room Technician to join their team at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. This critical full-time role involves working independently to perform all tasks related to the reprocessing and sterilization of surgical instruments, including maintenance, decontamination, prepping, sterilization, and proper handling and storage. The position is vital for ensuring patient safety and supporting surgical operations across the healthcare network. The technician will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of sterility and cleanliness for surgical instruments and equipment, working closely with surgical teams to ensure instruments are properly processed, sterilized, and available. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of sterile processing procedures and surgical instruments, capable of identifying, handling, and processing various specialized instruments according to manufacturer guidelines and hospital protocols, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role requires maintaining a clean and organized work environment, following strict infection control protocols, adhering to safety guidelines, and operating various sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer-disinfectors. Additionally, the technician will inspect instruments for functionality, cleanliness, and damage. The position demands physical stamina, including standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying instrument trays, and performing repetitive motions, in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines. Effective communication with surgical staff and other departments is essential.
