About The Position
Instrument Person, also known as a Survey Instrument Person, is a professional who is responsible for operating and maintaining surveying instruments and equipment. They work in a variety of fields, including construction, engineering, and land surveying, and play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and precision of survey data. In construction and engineering projects, Instrument Persons assist in the layout and design of the project by helping to establish reference points and elevations. They also ensure that the project is built to the correct specifications by taking measurements and providing survey data to the construction team. In land surveying, Instrument Persons are responsible for collecting data for property boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and other types of surveys that provide information about the land. In order to perform their duties effectively, Instrument Persons must have a thorough understanding of surveying equipment and techniques, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze survey data. They must also be able to work well in a team and communicate effectively with both their colleagues and clients. Overall, Instrument Persons play a critical role in ensuring the success of construction and engineering projects, as well as providing important information about the land to a variety of clients. All Survey Crews must have company Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, and Hard Hats on always while performing work duties. Seat belts must always be worn ALL times while riding in company vehicles. Make sure Safety Vest are always worn when collecting As-builts by Lakes, Canals, and Ponds. When transporting company Boat from project to office, it must be strapped down properly and checked repeatedly. Please DO NOT enter Utility excavations if not properly sloped, or backfilled higher than 4'. do not set up gps rod, lenker rod, or any equipment while lighting or heavy rain occurring. please be sure to lock up all equipment in lock boxes to kick from getting stolen. wipe-off all equipment when wet and make sure it's dry, before storing back in case or equipment room. if equipment is still fogged up at end of day, leave out for further drying.

Responsibilities
- Operating and maintaining surveying instruments and equipment.
- Assisting in the layout and design of construction and engineering projects by establishing reference points and elevations.
- Taking measurements and providing survey data to the construction team to ensure projects are built to correct specifications.
- Collecting data for property boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and other types of land surveys.
- Ensuring safety protocols are followed, including wearing safety vests, safety glasses, and hard hats.
- Wearing seat belts at all times while riding in company vehicles.
- Ensuring safety vests are worn when collecting as-builts by lakes, canals, and ponds.
- Properly strapping down and repeatedly checking company boats when transporting them from project to office.
- Avoiding entry into utility excavations that are not properly sloped or backfilled higher than 4'.
- Not setting up GPS rods, lenker rods, or any equipment during lightning or heavy rain.
- Locking up all equipment in lock boxes to prevent theft.
- Wiping off all equipment when wet and ensuring it is dry before storing.
- Leaving equipment out for further drying if it is still fogged up at the end of the day.
