About The Position

Plant Red Hills consists of 2 coal fired boilers producing steam for 1 steam turbine. This position is responsible for routine and corrective maintenance and also performs technical and analytical services essential to the control system and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic) within the plant while supporting Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant control and electrical systems. These systems include digital control systems, circuits, power circuits, station service equipment, and control devices. Employee will participate in the plant maintenance program and document plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system, MAXIMO.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in electrical and/or electronic, pneumatic, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Experience reading and interpreting control logic in a Distributed Control System (DCS) and PLC system.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and platforms.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to handle complex troubleshooting, high pressure situations and support operations in a changing work environment.
  • Must have good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trending for optimized plant performance.
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, self-directed and an effective team member.
  • Must be able to handle complex, pressure situations and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must qualify on the EEI Technician Occupations Selection System [TECH] test.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-Year College/Technical degree, military training or apprenticeship program.
  • Experience with Digital Control Systems, PLCs, ABB Control Systems, CEMS and Siemens Control System.
  • Experience in a coal fired power plant operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of plant controls and data acquisition systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of coal-fired power plant systems (turbine, generator, feedwater, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Routine and corrective maintenance of control systems and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic).
  • Performing technical and analytical services essential to the control system and associated equipment.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting the plant control and electrical systems, including digital control systems, circuits, power circuits, station service equipment, and control devices.
  • Participating in the plant maintenance program.
  • Documenting plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order system, MAXIMO.
  • Handling complex troubleshooting and high-pressure situations.
  • Supporting operations in a changing work environment.
  • Supporting a 24/7 schedule, including holiday and back shift work when necessary.
