About The Position

Vistra is seeking electricians to support the maintenance team at the Odessa-Ector Power Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and performing preventive maintenance on plant electrical systems. The level of the position will be determined by applicable skills and experience.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Prior electrical experience required.
  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communication skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Ability to read prints/schematics
  • Must have knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to electrical maintenance
  • Working knowledge of CMMS.
  • Experience working on both AC and DC power.
  • All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in an industrial environment.
  • Work in hot, cold, and noisy environments as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of trade school, military service training programs, or tech training preferred.
  • Texas journeyman electrical license preferred
  • Heavy industrial electrical experience preferred.
  • Experience in Maximo and SAP preferred
  • Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnects, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC, UPS, batteries, chargers, inverters, and VFD’s.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection schemes, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore equipment safely
  • Test and calibrate protective relays, meters, and monitoring equipment
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and equipment conditions in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support plant outage activities as required
  • Assist in the development and administration of the Lock-Out-Tag-Out program.
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance, including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE.
  • Will be on a rotating call-out schedule
