Under general direction from the Power Plant Supervisor, this role involves the installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of all power plant automatic process control and recording equipment. This includes instruments, gauges, analyzers, transducers, sensors, transmitters, switches, computer systems, and their component parts. The position requires programming, configuring, and maintaining distributed control systems, developing and troubleshooting control system logic, and maintaining emissions monitoring systems. Responsibilities also extend to repairing turbine generator governor systems, generator excitation systems, voltage regulators, vibration monitors, field instruments, and protective controls. The technician will troubleshoot and repair various types of programmable logic controllers and field instruments, maintain archive files of collected data, and perform skilled diagnostics using specialized test and calibration equipment. Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and participating in a preventive maintenance program are also key aspects of the role. The position may require responding to emergency call-outs and assisting at other District power generating stations.
