About The Position

The Key Training Center has been in Citrus County for over 58 years and is a large and established non-profit provider dedicated to offering Kindness, Love, Dignity, and Respect to its 300 clients. This role is for individuals with compassion who want to be part of an organization with strong values and a clear mission statement. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a direct care capacity, working in developmental disabilities or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to become certified in T.A.C.T. (Therapeutic Alternatives in Crisis Training), First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Behavior Analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned group of program participants and ensures their welfare and the continuity of the program day.
  • Instructs program participants daily to implement goals specified in implementation plans, including 1:1 instruction, group activities, and development of individual implementation and daily lesson plans.
  • Organizes the learning and work activity setting, including setup of workstations, development of teaching aids, and physical organization of instructional equipment.
  • Plans and promotes community activities for education, exposure, and experience.
  • Monitors and reports participant progress on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Instructs participants daily in assigned skill areas and work habits on an individualized basis to help them achieve personal outcomes.
  • Coaches participants to enhance social skills, improve interpersonal skills, boost self-esteem, and develop relationships.
  • Promotes and educates participants on their Bill of Rights, grievance procedures, abuse, and employment options.
  • Intervenes formally and informally to shape maladaptive behavior into more positive directions, including implementing behavior management programs, taking data, and participating in the design of behavior programs.
  • Instructs specific teaching strategies for assigned areas in implementation plans to achieve individual goals, developing task analyses and teaching aids.
  • Evaluates participants periodically to determine progress, functional skill levels, and develops goals for the program year.
  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings, including annual staffings, Client Review Committee meetings, and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Responsible for quality control of subcontracted work completed by program participants and accurate reporting of client production.
  • Supervises instructional assistants in conducting the daily instructional program, ensuring they interact appropriately with participants.
  • Supervises and instructs assigned program participants during lunch to ensure development of good eating habits and table manners.
  • Maintains a daily liaison with social caseworkers, families, and other significant persons to coordinate the training program and communicate about behavior and progress.
  • Creates or procures learning materials and equipment geared to each participant's ability and interest.
  • Provides consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of functioning level, and continuous feedback to participants.
  • Dispenses program participant medications according to physician orders and documents same.
  • Communicates unusual incidents related to program participants verbally and in writing to the Vocational Services Director or Program & Services Director and other parties.
  • Performs other essential duties as required or necessary.
