About The Position

UW Continuum College is seeking part-time instructors for its Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) SQL Server & Database Development certificate program. Applicants will be considered for courses scheduled between January 2027 and June 2027. Instructors may teach SQL Server Essentials for Developers in Winter 2027 or Database Programming Using T-SQL in Spring 2027. The courses cover SQL programming foundations, data estate professions, database planning and modeling, database objects, SQL syntax and relational data access, as well as T-SQL programming extensions, functions, branching and conditional logic, transactions, concurrency, and advanced data structures. Instructors engage with students as subject matter experts, present course content, and assess learner achievement of course competencies. They teach from a set curriculum and clear learning outcomes, while customizing content and slides to align with course objectives and personalizing instruction to their teaching style and experience. Courses are generally 10 weeks long and follow the UW academic quarter calendar. The certificate program is delivered entirely online using Zoom; classes meet once weekly in the evenings from 6–9 p.m. Pacific Time. These are part-time, temporary Academic Staff positions, not faculty positions. The pay range is $1,500–$1,600 per CEU per course, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Each course is 3 CEUs.
