About The Position

This is a 12-month, part-time Faculty position in the Division of Physician Assistant Education. The faculty member will support the PA Program curriculum by participating as a lecturer/small group facilitator, teaching in areas of expertise and program need. This role specifically focuses on Clinical Medicine Tutorials and Physical Diagnosis Lab teaching year-round, requiring availability on Monday afternoons. The faculty member will also be involved in grading student assignments, evaluating student academic and professional development, providing student instruction, evaluating student performance, and ensuring remedial instruction is available. Additionally, the role includes participating in program evaluation through self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes, providing informal academic advising, and participating in applicant selection and program committees as assigned. The faculty member must not act as a healthcare provider for students, except in emergencies.

Requirements

  • PA from an accredited academic institution.
  • 2 years of clinical experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Current NCCPA certification (if a PA)
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Oregon (if a PA)

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a lecturer/small group facilitator teaching in areas of expertise and program need as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Teach Clinical Medicine Tutorials and Physical Diagnosis Lab year-round.
  • Grade student assignments and evaluate student academic and professional development.
  • Provide student instruction in the academic and clinical phases of the program.
  • Evaluate student performance and assure the availability of remedial instruction.
  • Evaluate the program by participating in the program’s ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes.
  • Provide informal academic advising support to students throughout the educational program.
  • Participate in the selection of applicants for admission to the PA program as appropriate to FTE.
  • Participate on program committees as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Program Director.
