About The Position

Austin Community College is a public two-year institution that serves a multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each Fall and Spring semester. Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage multicultural groups of participants
  • Knowledge of fitness principles, techniques, and class design
  • Adaptability to modify exercises for different ability levels
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create a positive environment
  • Prior experience leading group fitness classes preferred
  • Current nationally recognized group fitness certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, RYT 200, Zumba)
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes (e.g., cardio, strength, yoga, cycling, HIIT)
  • Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and modifications for varying fitness levels and abilities
  • Monitor participant safety, including proper form and technique
  • Arrive prepared and on time with structured, well-organized class formats
  • Foster a welcoming, and motivating class environment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and studio space
  • Follow all facility policies, procedures, and emergency protocols
  • Build positive relationships with participants to encourage ongoing engagement
