About The Position

Jamestown Community College is hiring a full-time, term, non-tenure-line faculty member in Welding Technology for its Jamestown Campus. The position is scheduled to begin in January 2027, at the start of the Spring 2027 semester, and follows a nine-month academic calendar, subject to annual renewal. Flexibility to teach courses across days and evenings is expected. The instructor will teach foundational and advanced welding courses, emphasizing hands-on skill development, welding theory, safety, fabrication practices, industry expectations, and preparation for welding qualification testing. Instruction may cover welding theory and safety, blueprint reading and welding symbols, fabrication and fit-up, welding metallurgy, welding inspection and testing, and modern welding and cutting equipment. The instructor must be proficient in at least three of the four primary arc welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW, and should be willing to learn and incorporate evolving technologies, processes, equipment, and industry practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with Engineering & Technology faculty and Workforce Development staff to maintain and develop curriculum aligned with industry needs and recognized welding standards. The role also supports safe, organized, and effective welding laboratories; assists with equipment and laboratory operations; participates in student recruitment and outreach; and builds relationships with regional employers, schools, and industry partners. The instructor will support student-centered, hands-on learning that prepares graduates for employment, further education, and industry-recognized welding qualifications and certifications, and will participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives that advance the Welding Technology program and the Manufacturing Technology Institute.
